We left BWI at approximately 9:40am on August 15th, stopped in Detroit to meet up with Ken and Evan around 11am, then boarded the 14 hour flight to PuDong airport. The flight was pretty awesome :) The seats leaned back nice and far, we got free pillows and blankets, and there were TV screens in front of every seat (I watched at least 6 movies and won my first Sudoku game... with Evan's help :P ) We arrived in Shanghai around 2:30pm on August 16th, having had minimal sleep and some surprisingly yummy airplane food! We were greeted by Summer, our local tour guide and translator, who then led us to a little tour bus (middle right) that took us to San Want Hotel in Shanghai (fancy as shit, hon!). To end off this long day in transit, we all headed to Shanghai restaurant (bottom left) for a local meal, and OH MY GOD THE FOOD WAS SO DELICIOUS (bottom right). For the next 11 days, we'll be drinking bottled water, and I need to seriously refine my skills with chopsticks :P Tomorrow we'll continue our adventure in Shanghai. PS: OMG CHINA. |
